AYRA STAR: THE PRINCESS OF AFROSOUNDS

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe popularly known as Ayra Star is a Nigerian singer with over one billion streams on spotify and all other streaming platforms. This talented young Nigerian whose style of music falls into the new genre called Afropops/Afrosounds is a  native of Kwara state in Nigeria. She is signed to Mavins Records, one of the most prestigious record label in Nigeria with label mates such as Rema, Ladipoe, Crayon, Johnny Drille, Magixx, Boy Spyce and Bayanni. It also houses producers such as Don Jazzy(CEO/ producer), Altims, London, Baby Fresh, and Andre Vibez. Ayra Starr says she grew up in a musically inclined family and considers her mother a lover of good music, her brother (Dami) is a guitarist and songwriter.  Ayra Starr and Dami began writing songs from a very young age under the tutelage of their mother and aunt. Growing up between Republic of Bénin and Nigeria. This exposed to different cultures that influenced her perspective on life and her personality. She had wanted to make a real career out of singing since age 10 but her father encouraged her to complete her education first.
This sexy singer achieved this when she was 18, and is a graduate of  international relations and political science from Les Cours Sonou university Cotonou. 


She uploaded her first original song online called “damage” which caught the attention to the record executive DONJAZZY of Mavins Records who has a lengthy list of artist who he has worked with which includes D'Banj, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal,  & Di’ja, Korede Bello, Reckado Banks, Iyanya and so many more.
She has a wide range of musical influences which including 2Face Idibia, Wande Coal, Angélique Kidjo, Lijadu Sisters and Tope Alabi, and in college, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Sia and Tiwa Savage. She credited Shakira as her biggest influence vocally along with Beyoncé, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.


In 2021, Ayra Starr achieved mainstream recognition with her eponymous debut extended play and its hit track "Away" which spent two consecutive weeks at number four on Nigeria's TurnTable Top 50 and went to number 17 on US Billboard. 
During the fall of 2021, she and her label mate, Rema, signed a multi million  endorsement deal with Pepsi as Ambassadors on the Big Brother Naija show.
That same year , she released her first album titled 19 & Dangerous in August,  Categorized mainly as Afropop and R'nB, the album was met with favorable critical reception. It spawned a big hit with the lead single "Bloody Samaritan" which peaked the Top 50 chart, becoming the first solo song by a female artist to reach the number-one position. Starr debuted on Pandora Predictions chart, and on 28 August 2021, she ranked number three on Billboard's Next Big Sound.

Ayra Starr would later achieve mainstream International Recognition in 2022, with the release of her hit song "Rush".  which was added to the album, 19 and dangerous deluxe The song charted in many territories like Switzerland, Ireland and The United Kingdom, where it peaked at Number 36.
With the song, Ayra became the Youngest African Female Artist to surpass 100 Million views on a single video on YouTube, and also the first to do so within 5 months. She also set a new record by becoming the only Nigerian Female Artist to have charted a solo song on UK official Singles Chart

In 2023, Ayra has released a new single called "Sability" culled from her nickname, sabi girl meaning the "the knowledgeable lady' and is on her way to 100 million Youtube view for her hit song, Rush from her first album.
