Arsenal's women's team faced an unexpected delay after their plane caught fire following their Champions League semi-final first-leg match against Wolfsburg in Germany. The incident occurred when the plane was hit by a bird on the runway, causing it to burst into flames. The Gunners were scheduled to fly back to London immediately after the match, but they had to stay an extra night in Germany due to a technical fault.

Arsenal confirmed in a statement that the players remained in Wolfsburg overnight and flew back to England safely the following day. The club also thanked the staff onboard and on the ground at the airport for their assistance in dealing with the incident.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident, and the players were able to return home without further incident. Despite the delay, Arsenal came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Wolfsburg, putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the second leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners will face Wolfsburg again on May 1 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. The winner of the tie will advance to the final to play either Barcelona or Chelsea.
