The movie 4:4:44 is a beautifully crafted film, with exceptional acting from the cast. Izu Ojukwu, the director, is known for his infrequent but outstanding films, and 4:4:44 is no exception. The subject matter is skillfully handled, with a scientific and well-researched approach to the plot that sets it apart from typical Nollywood films. The movie is a poignant tale of enduring love and the painful effects of societal stigma.
The film is set in the 1940s to 1960s, with an accurate representation of the time period through the appropriate locations, costumes, and anecdotes. The subplots are well-developed, showcasing the community life of the era, including the justice system.
Nse Ikpe-Etim delivers a remarkable performance, showcasing her impressive range of emotions, while RMD's and Seun Akindele's performances are outstanding, with great chemistry between the lead actors. Efe Irele also delivers a lovely performance, and the new and unknown actors in the movie give great performances too.
However, the movie loses a point for the atrocious wigs on the male actors, which could have been avoided by giving them appropriate haircuts instead. Aside from this, the costumes and props are appropriate for the movie's setting and time period, and the movie is available on Amazon Prime Video. Overall, 4:4:44 is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates well-crafted cinema.
