Leon Edwards retained his welterweight title as he beat challenger Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 by majority decision to extend his unbeaten streak to 12 in his first defence of the title.

Judges scored the trilogy fight at the O2 Arena in London 48-46, 48-46, 47-47 in favour of the Briton, who landed the cleaner blows as their third fight went the distance.

It was a really close encounter between the two MMA fighters.

Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman fought brilliantly, but almost cancelled each other out at times.

It went back and forth. Edwards had his moments and was looking for that head kick moment again, while Usman reminded everyone how much of a force he is.

His fans in Nigeria had hoped he would win and reclaim the title he lost some months agio.

What a moment for Edwards also known as Rocky. Another seminal moment for British MMA. Rocky remains the UFC champion and has the likes of Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal in his sights. Both are huge fights.

Edwards showed moments of inexperience in this fight, notably the fouls, but he found a way to win.

There is widespread rumors that this two fighters will meet again.

"I knew I could go out there and take his shots"; Usman: "I'm not done. I'll see him again" was the nightmare's statement at the end of the fight.
