Ziggy Marley has announced that the filming of his father Bob Marley's biopic covering his life from 1976 to 1978 is complete, but the title is yet to be announced. The movie will focus on the period when Bob Marley survived an assassination attempt in Jamaica and later went into self-imposed exile in London. The film will include two of Jamaica's foremost political enforcers of the 1970s era, Aston "Bucky" Marshall and Claudius Massop, as well as the two leaders of the two major political parties at the time, Edward Seaga and Michael Manley. The film's executive producers are Marley's widow Rita and his daughter Cedella, along with Ziggy, and they are producing the movie on behalf of Tuff Gong, the music label and studios which Bob established in 1970. The lead actors in the film are Kingsley Ben Adir, who plays Bob Marley, and Lashana Lynch, who plays the role of Rita. The film is set to release on January 12, 2024.
