Multichoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, has announced an upward review of its subscription packages starting from May 1st, 2023. In a text message sent to its customers, the company stated that the review is due to the rising costs of business operations.

As a result, customers on the Premium package will now pay N24,500 instead of the previous N21,000, while the Compact Plus package will increase from N14,250 to
N16,600. Similarly, the monthly subscription for the Compact package will go up from N9,000 to N10,500.

For GOtv subscribers, the Supa package will increase from N5,500 to N6,400, while GOtv Max increases from N4,150 to N4,850. The GOtv Jolli package price will increase from N2,800 to N3,300, while the GOtv Jinja and GOtv Lite packages will rise from N1,900 to N2,250, and from N900 to N1,100, respectively.

To retain the old price of N21,000 for up to 12 months, customers are advised to ensure their accounts are active by April 30th.

It's worth noting that this increase comes barely a year after the company increased its subscription rates due to rising inflation and business operations costs in the country.

While this decision may come as a shock to many customers, it's important to note that businesses, including Multichoice, are constantly faced with rising costs of operations. This increase in subscription rates is a reflection of the current economic situation in the country, and businesses must adjust their prices accordingly to stay afloat.
