R. Kelly, the former R&B singer who was convicted of child sex crimes in June 2022, is currently serving his 30-year prison sentence in North Carolina. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has confirmed that Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is being held at the medium-security federal correctional institution, Federal Correctional Institution Butner Medium I, in Granville County.

The prison website states that Kelly's release date is unknown, and he is expected to remain incarcerated until his late 80s. He was transferred from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago to FCI Butner Med I on April 19. In February of this year, Kelly was sentenced to an additional year in prison for child pornography charges by a Chicago judge in federal court.

Kelly's conviction and imprisonment serve as a reminder that child sex crimes are serious offenses that carry severe legal consequences. It's crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of children and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. We hope that Kelly's imprisonment provides some measure of justice for his victims and serves as a deterrent for others who might engage in similar behavior.
